The common practice in page layout is to divide the web page into three sections, the header, the content, and the footer. The header section will contain the logo, some image, essential navigation, some banners. The content section is where you put the main content of your web page. In the footer section go some addtional general navigations, copyrights, images, etc. Each one of these sections can be divided into sub-sections to hold various elements as needed. Especially, the content section may be divided into two or three columns with narrower right and left columns for page navigation and advertisements. One may also add a separate top horizontal strip under the header for top menu. The entire layout may be horizontally centered within the window.

This particular example page has a body background color of #666666, and the main container table is white; other cells also are assigned their own colors, font sizes, and other style properties. Please see the source code.
